Luiz Antonio Lino da Silva Costa holds a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Oxford (1998), a master’s degree in Social Anthropology from the Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro (2000), and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro (2007). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Anthropology, a tenured professor in the Postgraduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and in the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology of the Museu Nacional, Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro. He is a CNPq productivity fellow. He was co-editor of the journal Hau: Journal of Ethnographic Theory from 2019 to 2024. He has been conducting research with the Kanamari of the Javari Valley since 2002. His research topics include social organization and kinship, history and mythology, human-nonhuman relations, among others.
