Antonio Guerreiro is an anthropologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil). He earned his PhD in 2012 from theUniversidade de Brasília and received his Habilitation in Ethnology from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2024. Guerreiro served as Scientific Editor for Maloca – Revista de Estudos Indígenas from 2018 to 2025. He has been a full member of the Brazilian Anthropology Association since 2012 and a member of SALSA since 2011. He was Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas from 2015 to 2017, and Head of the Department of Anthropology from 2020 to 2025. Guerreiro was Associate Director of the Center for Research in Indigenous Ethnology (CPEI) from 2017 to 2019, and assumed the role of Director in 2024. He holds a Research Productivity Fellowship from the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), has been a principal investigator on projects funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), and currently leads research projects supported by the British Museum and the Firebird Foundation for Anthropological Research.

Since 2005, Guerreiro has been developing research, outreach, and documentation projects with the Kalapalo people of the Upper Xingu in the Brazilian Amazon. His work focuses on themes such as kinship, politics, ritual, verbal arts, and territoriality. Since 2024, he has been co-coordinating, with Marina Pereira Novo and Ugise Kalapalo, the project “Documenting endangered traditional fishing technologies among the Kalapalo, Southern Amazon” (EMKP/British Museum), which focuses on the impacts of environmental changes on fishing in the Upper Xingu. He also co-coordinates, with Marina Pereira Novo, Veronica Monachini, and Ugise Kalapalo, outreach initiatives aimed at strengthening the Kalapalo language.
