Indigenous and Traditional Peoples’ Membership and Registration

If you are a member of an Indigenous Nation or Traditional Group (e.g. Riverine, Afro-descendant, Extractivist community), SALSA waives your conference registration and SALSA membership fees. Indigenous and Traditional Peoples, unlike others, do not have to join SALSA in order to participate in the conference.

By March 31st, please:

  • Register for the conference via this registration link.
  • If you wish to become a SALSA member, you have the option to join the organization at no cost here.

SALSA Solidarity Fund 

Travel Awards to support Indigenous and Traditional Peoples’ travel to SALSA XV:

You may apply for a SALSA Solidarity Fund Traditional Peoples’ Travel Award to support your travel if you plan to present in-person. To qualify for one of these grants, you must:

  • Be a member of an Indigenous People or Traditional community.
  • Not have other financial resources to fully support your travel.
  • Have received confirmation from yourpanel or event organizer that your contribution is accepted.
  • Fill out an application for the SALSA Solidarity Fund Travel Award here (deadline March 7th).

    Grants will be distributed to representatives of different nations, communities, countries, academic levels, leadership roles, and linguistic backgrounds. Applicants’ descriptions of their motives and reasons for attending SALSA XV (see application form) also form part of the evaluation criteria.
