Member-at-Large Candidate 2025

Filip Rogalski is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Gdańsk, Poland. His ethnographic research focuses on the Arabela people of the Peruvian Amazon and explores Indigenous ontologies and knowledges, human–nonhuman relations, everyday sociability, childhood, violence, and cultural memory. He has also conducted applied research among other Indigenous Peoples of Peruvian Amazonia, including the Kichwa, Awajún, and Wampís. This work has centered on Indigenous territorial rights—both for groups living in voluntary isolation and for those seeking national recognition of ancestral territories. He has collaborated with AIDESEP (Asociación Interétnica de Desarrollo de la Selva Peruana), its regional and local organizations (ORAI and the Consejo Aguaruna Huambisa), as well as the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Between 2020 and 2022, he served on the SALSA COVID-19 Working Group helping to document and disseminate information on the impact of the pandemic on Indigenous Peoples of Amazonia and their responses to this global crisis. He would be honored to contribute his experience and perspective to the organization, supporting initiatives that promote diversity and strengthen the social relevance of anthropological research. He also seeks to foster greater participation of scholars from Central and Eastern Europe within the organization.
